DiamondTome Microdermabrasion for Healthy and Vibrant Skin

Did you know that our skin is actually the largest organ of our body?  It is designed to protect and shield us from various exposures in our environment such as potential injury or infection.  As our first line of defense, it often sustains the most damage.  The cells located at the uppermost layer of our skin are called keratinocytes, and as our primary shield, can be lost as a part of our normal cell turnover or more rapidly due to damage.  For the healthiest skin, these cells need to be gently removed, or exfoliated, so they can be replaced by healthy living cells that migrate to the surface from the layers below.  Microdermabrasion using the DiamondTomeTM system is able to effectively and gently remove the keratinocytes as a part of this process and give you new, vibrant, and healthy skin.

What is a Microdermabrasion treatment?

Microdermabrasion is a gentle skin exfoliation treatment that enables new healthy skin cells to migrate to the top layer of one’s skin.  Microdermabrasion is a nonsurgical, painless procedure performed with a diamond tip wand.  This anti-aging treatment rejuvenates the complexion of the face and body.  It results in a bright glow and smooth skin, while revealing a more even skin tone.  The results are instant, and you will look fabulous as you leave Ageless Beauty Rx.

What does the diamond-tip wand do to skin?

The diamond-tip wand handpiece is connected to a small machine that creates a gentle vacuum as it moves across the surface of the skin to exfoliate keratinocyte cells on the face or body. The diamond tipped wand also buffs and polishes the new healthy skin cells and stimulates blood circulation to enhance new cell production.  When the top layer of the skin is removed, it signals the body to automatically increase collagen production to support and tighten the new skin cells.  While many traditional exfoliation treatments are only able to target the face, DiamondTomeTM   microdermabrasion technology is able to rejuvenate your entire body from head to toe.

What kinds of conditions does Microdermabrasion treat?

Microdermabrasion is designed to renew skin tone and texture and leave the skin with a clear and bright complexion.  The settings of the DiamondTomeTM system can be adjusted depending on the client’s needs and skin type.  Microdermabrasion improves conditions such as dry, oily, sensitive, and acne prone skin.  It also repairs sun damage, and reduces wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, hyperpigmentation, dullness, large pores, and rough texture.

What should I expect during the treatment?

There is no downtime after microdermabrasion.  The skin may become temporarily pink, but this will subside within 24 hours.  At Ageless Beauty Rx, the patented technology of the DiamondTomeTM exfoliation is followed by an infusion of Vitamin C, targeted serums, and moisturizers to complete the treatment.  The skin will benefit from gentle exfoliation, allowing for deep product penetration, hydration, and nourishment all in one treatment.  For best results, treatments should be done every four weeks to aid in a more rapid skin cell turnover, much like you had in your younger years.  In our youth, our skin cells turnover rapidly, but as we age, the turnover lengthens to as long as 90+ days.  By using microdermabrasion, we are able to simulate youthful cell cycles and visibly see changes that result in healthy and vibrant skin.  Here is a table depicting skin cell turnover cycles by age:
